Red Stag Timber Limited owns and operates the Waipa Mill, based in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty. Waipa Mill is the largest independant sawmill in NZ, producing over 330,000 cubic metres of sawn timber per annum and with an annual turnover of over NZ$100m. Processing includes a combination of sawing, drying, planing and treating, each utilising world class processes and modern technology. Waipa employs over 220 people to meet the various operational and business skill requirements, which contribute to the success of the company.
Red Stag Timber is currently seeking to employ a person in the following position.
TIMBER MACHINIST / CHARGEHAND
We are currently seeking a qualified Timber Machinist to lead our 5 person 25R planer team. Key tasks include;
* Leading the set up and safe operation of our Weinig 25R planer and related grinding and maintenance
* Problem solving and trouble shooting to maximise productivity and quality
* Mentoring trainee machinist/s by sharing technical know-how
* Providing cover for other machinists on leave, at times in other planer operations and/or shifts
Working 4 x 10 hour shifts Monday to Thursday 5am - 3.40pm, with occasional overtime on a Friday, this role willl report to the planer Team Leader. Candidates must hold the required NZQA L4 or advanced timber machining qualification to apply. A can-do attitude and leading by example is essential, as is demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
